Frog's casts came off last Wednesday (eww!!) fairly easily at home. It took me about half an hour to cut off the outer covering and then unwind the four rolls of soft cast material. The soft cast material is kind of neat as it feels like mesh dipped in sticky rubber.
Frog got dirt and sand in his casts from wearing them around to play without covering the toes this past week. This lead to blisters on the instep of both of his feet and a gnarly case of athletes foot (boys and heat and sweat, like I said... EWWW). Unfortunately this led to our first setback of debating if we wanted to recast and hope the blisters heal in the cast or give him a few days off before recasting.
He went from a -12° (with 0° being what we want) to a -10. We were hoping to gain ~5° this first week, so the fact we only gained 2° was a real bummer. This was not what we wanted to hear when balanced with him having blisters and us having a very very busy end of July / beginning of August which puts us on a tight schedule. After talking with the Dr. for a bit, we decided to give him the weekend off and put new casts on Tuesday afternoon.
So here we go. Stripes for week 2
