Memorial Day

Memorial Day.
A day for remembering those brave men and women who follow our Nations call to arms.  A day for remembering them, mourning them, and celebrating them.  This day hits close to home for me for many reasons.  I come from a family of men and women that have answered this call.  My grandfathers and my parents all served their time in the military.  My husband and I both serve in the National Guard.  I have faced deployment from both sides, being the one in far off lands and being the one at home, worrying.

As a military family at home we stay strong and celebrate these husbands, fathers, mothers wives, sisters, brothers family as they spent their time in far off places.  Places with jungles and deserts.  Places that were strange and foreign and where communication was if you were lucky done with scarce words and hand signals.

Through diversity both at home and abroad these brave men and women stand and support us.  They give their days their nights, their time and sometimes their lives.  They give up special moments that we may know freedom.

On Memorial day, we were blessed with a beautiful sunny day.  Many people were outside BBQ'ing, playing, camping, and enjoying the beautiful weather we had.  How many of them, I wonder stopped to say a prayer or pass a thought to those that spent this Memorial day far from home.  How many took the day to remember those that paid the ultimate sacrifice and lost their lives in support of our great country?   Support our Troops, send them love, say a prayer and don't limit it to a single day out of the year.
